Providing clarity for development, minimizing land use conflicts and balancing individualsâ€™ rights against the need to protect and encourage our rural industries has shaped the Rural Strategy 2015.
The Rural StrategyÂ 2015Â Â was adopted by Council on 20 October, 2015.
The recommendations will now be implemented into the Wangaratta Planning Scheme, through staged Planning Scheme Amendments. Â Â
The Strategy sets out the directions for the future growth of our rural areas. The Strategy's aims are to:
Planning Scheme Amendment C69
Council has prepared and exhibited Amendment C69 to the Wangaratta Planning Scheme.
This Amendment applies to all land currently zoned Farming, Rural Conservation and Rural Living Zones with the Municipality. Â
The Amendment proposes to implement the first stage (identified as 'short term' outcomes) of the recommended outcomes arising from the Rural City of Wangaratta Rural Strategy 2015 (the Strategy) and the Roadside Conservation Management Plan 2014, within the Wangaratta Planning Scheme.
The Amendment and Submissions made to Council during the exhibition period will now be considered before an independent Planning Panel appointed by the Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning.
