Rural City of Wangaratta

In recognising the value of play to children a number of open space reserves located throughout Wangaratta as well as rural areas contain playground equipment.  Some open Space areas with a regional focus also contain playgrounds with a wide variety of equipment.

Merriwa Park

Tucked away within Wangaratta’s CBD sits Merriwa Park a large community park, surrounded with River Red Gums (Eucalyptus camaldulensis) and scenic ponds. The park has playground, BBQ and toilet facilities and open reserve area.  

Apex Park

Located on the North entrance to Wangaratta, just off Parfitt Road on the edge of Wangaratta’s CBD. The Park is positioned on 8 acres of open reserve and provides CBD parking opportunities for tourists travelling with caravans, toilet and BBQ facilities and a large playground. Kids love the spiral slide.

King George V Gardens

Situated in Ovens Street in the heart of Wangaratta’s CBD, this picturesque park is lined with mature majestic Plane trees providing shady conditions for a relaxing picnic. The park offers playground and toilet facilities.

Batchelors Green

Positioned on Wangaratta’s South entrance (Tone Road) the park provides a perfect rest area with Plane tree shade, a large BBQ and picnic area, playground and toilet facilities.
