Directory of Activities for Positive Ageing

Would you like to be happier? Make new friends? Enjoy life to the fullest? Learn new ideas?

If so, the Directory of Activities for Positive Ageing will help you to connect with people and organisations to assist you to achieve these.

We have also added some useful information about Chronic Disease and tips for positive mental health, physical activity and healthy eating.

The directory contains contact data and brief details about the main focus of over 60 organisations. Between them, they offer more than 100 opportunities to be involved in an incredible array of mental and physical activities within the Rural City of Wangaratta. These opportunities are divided into five main categories:

  • Active: Physical activities ranging from gentle, moderate or high intensity.
  • Create: Anything that is made by hand or voice.
  • Learn: Informal and formal courses for those seeking new ideas.
  • Social: Many opportunities to make new friends, do lunch and enjoy.
  • Volunteer: For those who want to make a difference to the community.

Within these five main categories each entry gives:

  • The name of the organisation;
  • The venue where the activity takes place; The name and telephone
  • Number of the contact person; and,
  • Keywords which describe the benefits of joining that organisation.
  • Symbols are used for Parking Public transport and accessibility

People who have a disability may make contact even if the access symbol is not present.

The main purpose of the directory is to connect people with organisations which can provide them with activities which interest them. When this connection occurs, it is a win-win situation for the organisation and the individual. Organisations gain more members and can increase the range of their activities, and the member gains new friends and new skills while having fun.
