Disabled Parking

Disabled Parking

There are two permit types for disabled parking.

These include:

  • a blue permit - enables a person with ambulatory disabilities or significant intellectual disabilities to park in a bay reserved for disabled motorists only for twice the specified time in a standard parking bay
  • a green permit - allows a person whose disability requires them to take constant rest breaks, but does not require additional space for entering and exiting their vehicle, to park for twice the specified time in a standard parking bay.

A disabled person who holds only a green-on-white permit, or who does not hold any permit, cannot use a parking space reserved for the disabled. Holders of either permit can park for twice the time normally allowed in ordinary parking spaces.

A disabled parking permit must be displayed at the left side of the front windscreen, so that the permit number and expiry date can be seen from the outside. The driver must give his/her driver's licence and the permit when asked to do so by police or an authorised officer.

To apply for a blue or green permit please complete the Disabled Person's Parking Scheme application form (see below).

To apply for a permit for an organisation please complete the Organisation's Parking Scheme statement form (see below)
