Families and Children
The Rural City of Wangaratta prides itself on the services it has available for families and children in the municipality. Families are well served by 21 primary schools, three secondary schools, one specialist school, one TAFE institute and many childcare and kindergarten facilities.
With the establishment of Victoria's first Technical Education Centre and Year 9 Community College we can also look forward to strengthened links between education and industry.
The Maternal and Child Health Service is a free service available to all families with children from birth to school age. It provides services that offer families with young children support, information, health promotion, early identification and intervention for health concerns.

The Rural City of Wangaratta has a number of services available to parents and carers for children with advanced needs. The Wangaratta Child Care Centre has an advanced needs officer who works directly with and cares for children with advanced needs during time of care at the centre.
