The Community Planning Process

The Community Planning Process

The Community Planning process is about bringing community members together to create a plan that will guide the development of your community.

It is about identifying the things that are important to you and the things that will enhance the future liveability of your community.

A Community Plan will assist service providers and all levels of government to provide the things that are important to your community.

Community Planning meetings are held approximately biennial in rural communities.  The Rural City of Wangaratta 2030 Community Vision is used to provide inspiration for your thoughts on subjects such as:

  • transport
  • health and wellbeing
  • youth
  • safety
  • economic viability
  • arts, culture and heritage
  • the environment

Aspirations will be identified and projects will be scoped and led by members of the community with support from Council’s Community Planning Unit.

Once the community have validated their plan, it is received at a Council meeting.
