Rural City of Wangaratta

Council Emergency Information

In a life threatening or time critical emergency call '000'.  For flood or storm emergencies call the Victorian SES on 132 500.

The Rural City of Wangaratta is a great place to live and work and Council strives to make the municipality the 'Ultimate in Liveability'.  Part of living in a rural municipality however, is living with and preparing for emergency events and disruptions.  The climate and geography of the area including features such as extensive forests and large waterways mean the region is subject to bushfire events, flooding, drought, heatwave and storms.  In addition Wangaratta's location on major transport routes mean that traffic incidents occur from time to time with these occassionally being of significance in terms of human and property impact.

Whether you are a resident, business owner or visitor you are encouraged by Council to prepare and plan for emergencies, disasters and disruptions.  Individuals and communities that prepare for emergencies and disruptions maximise their opportunities to recover well from such events.
