Posted: 04/09/2012Creative Youth together with Wangaratta High Schools Vocation Education & Training (VET) Music Industry class will be hosting a heat of ‘The Push’ Regional Battle of the Bands on 21 September 2012 at St Patricks Hall, Ford Street, Wangaratta.
Seven local bands have been selected to go into battle showcasing their musical talents. The winner of this heat will not only receive a cash prize of $300 but will also head to the Regional Battle of the Bands final later this year. At this event the battling bands will compete for a spot at the Push Over Music Festival in Melbourne in March 2013.
The competing local bands are: Hunter Gatherer, Jem and Jeff, Belle Currie, Kneller Orchestra, House Cat Society, The Bassett and Liv Cartledge.
Queensland band, Nine Sons of Dan will be heading the event and using their expertise and experience to judge the winner of the local band competition.
Creative Youth Committee member Samuel Burbury said “At this exciting event there will be bands from a wide range of genres, ages and experience. It is a great opportunity for local young people to perform on stage and show off their talents to an audience enjoying the entertainment in a youth friendly, safe, secure, drug, alcohol and smoke free environment”.
Battle of the Bands will be held at St Patricks Hall, Ford Street, Wangaratta. Doors open at 6.00pm and the event will wrap up at 11:00pm. Tickets are on sale for $5 each at Disclocation Leading Edge in Wangaratta or at the door on the night for $7. This event is for all ages so come and support our local talent.
Creative Youth is funded through FReeZA which is a Victorian Government initiative that supports young Victorians to be involved in community life by planning and running drug, alcohol and smoke free cultural events for young people.
