Outstanding young people in our community are deserving of recognition for their achievements

The Rural City of Wangaratta has opened nominations for its bi-annual Youth Awards program.

The 2012 Youth Awards recognise the achievements, participation and commitment of young people in the Rural City of Wangaratta and are an initiative of the Wangaratta Rural City Council and the Youth Council.

“Our aim is to acknowledge and encourage participation of young people from all walks of life who are committed to achieving great things in our community” said Youth Mayor Belle Currie.

Young people aged 12–25 years who are living; working or studying in the Rural City of Wangaratta during 2012 can be nominated in the following categories:  Sport; Extreme Sport; Employee; Community Service; Youth Leadership; Inspiration; Individual Music; Visual Arts; Performing Arts; Youth Ambassador 2012;

“Often we only hear of the negatives about today’s youth, so it’s great that we have this opportunity to recognize the achievements of our young people and showcase the significant ways in which they contribute to our community” she said.

The Wangaratta Youth Awards evening will be held on Wednesday 14 November 2012 at the Wangaratta Performing Arts Centre.
