“Both the AFL and Council are anticipating that a bumper crowd will attend, given the quality of the two sides and there strong supporter bases.
“This will be the ideal way to showcase the new facilities. The game will be played under lights, starting at 7.00pm, with the prospect of a local curtain raiser to whet the crowds appetite,” said Mr Sharp.
The official launch of the $2.9 million Wangaratta Showgrounds redevelopment project will be attended by representatives from the State Government, the AFL and Council.
Mr Sharp encouraged all football fans to attend the match.
“In the past we have rarely had the opportunity, here in Wangaratta, to see the standard of football we can expect from these two great clubs,” he said.Â
“Our new facilities have been a long time coming, but those in attendance will witness the dawning of a new era for football in Wangaratta. One that will cement Wangaratta as the Australian Rules football hub of the region.”
