Council is seeking a suitably qualified and experienced Development Engineer. This position is a pivotal role for the Rural City of Wangaratta, responsible for ensuring that land development projects are delivered to civil engineering standards with great outcomes for the local community.

This role is responsible for determining development conditions, approving designs provided by external parties and monitoring to ensure compliance for infrastructure works such as subdivisions, driveway crossovers and works being performed in council’s road reserve by contractors on behalf of other authorities.  

The position is an active and engaged role that will see you regularly liaising with various stakeholders, from council’s planning department through to local consultants, contractors and representatives from other authorities.

You will also have the opportunity to develop councils systems and processes in areas such as asset protection and subdivision approvals. You will also be able to help shape council’s technical knowledge, bringing your experience and knowledge of road, drainage and infrastructure design to the technical services team and the wider council services.    

The successful candidate will have experience in road, drainage and civil infrastructure design and/or a similar development approvals role, with a sound knowledge of subdivision development. The candidate will ideally have a degree in Civil Engineering, however candidates with relevant engineering or technical experience will be considered. Sound interpersonal, communication and time management skills along with a current driver’s licence are also required.
