Rural City of Wangaratta

This $2.9 million redevelopment project includes the construction of a large multi-purpose facility - the Wangaratta Sports Development Centre, arena lighting to Australian Football League (AFL) standard, viewing embankment enlargement, upgrades to community common areas and internal road sealing. 

The redevelopment will dramatically improve the showgrounds facilities for all users and increase comfortable spectator capacity to approximately 13,000 people. 

The project has come to fruition through a complex funding mix from a variety of sources.  These include the State and Federal Governments, the AFL, Council and community stakeholders.  The AFL contribution is both cash and in-kind and includes a commitment to play 5 practice matches at the venue over a period of 10 to 15 year following the upgrade.
