The Trading Ground Applications Extended
Applications for The Trading Ground have been extended by two weeks - with applications now closing on 16 February.
A budding entrepreneur will win a retail space at Wangaratta’s Co-Store rent free for a year, under an innovative new concept being launched by the Rural City of Wangaratta.
People with amazing business ideas are encouraged to apply.
Once applications are in, people with the top 10 business ideas will be chosen to participate in workshops offered through Council’s Small Business Development Program. The workshops are designed to help people grow and cultivate their business ideas.
Following the completion of the workshops, the top 10 businesses will present their ideas to a ‘Shark Tank’ style panel that will select one winning business to have a year rent free in a retail space at the Co-Store.
Council’s Economic Development Officer Rachael Richards said The Trading Ground concept was designed to encourage potential small business owners to take the first step.
“We’ve got so many amazing small business owners in Wangaratta and plenty more people with great ideas who don’t know where to start,” she said.
“We’re looking for something that on one else offers in Wangaratta.
“The Trading Ground will help ten businesses get their start through attending the Small Business Development program workshops.
“Then for one of those businesses to get a year rent free in the Co-Store is just the perfect launching pad for their business.”
Expression of Interest forms and Rules and Regulations for The Trading Ground will be available on Council’s website from Friday. Applications close on 16 February 2018.
